do life

VOV connects your phone, your computers, your notes and calendar apps, your mail, your files and the accounts you choose. What they know lives in one place that is yours. Your phone carries it.

Any of it, in this order

VOV is built to connect whatever you already have: any notes app, any calendar, your mail, your files, the accounts you sign into, the computers you own. You choose each connection. Each one unlocks more. Here is each one and how far along it is.

  1. Your iPhone

The face of it. Everything starts on the phone; a computer you own does the heavier work when it is on.

    In use by us

    • Say a thought once; it is kept as a note you can open later.
    • Ask about anything you kept and see where the answer came from.
    • Carry the context with you; nothing depends on being at a desk.
  2. Your notes

Whichever notes app you already use, such as Apple Notes, Obsidian, Notion, Bear or plain text files in a folder.

    Later

    • Everything you have written, findable from your phone by what it is about.
    • Kept where it already lives; VOV reads it, it does not move it.
  3. Your calendar

Any calendar you can sign into, such as Apple, Google, Outlook or the one your school or employer runs.

    Later

    • What is next, with the thing you kept about it beside it.
    • A change on the calendar shows up where you will see it, with its source.
  4. Your mail

Any mailbox you can sign into.

    Later

    • The two messages that need you, not the two hundred that do not.
    • Reply from the same place, with the context you kept.
  5. Your files

Folders on any computer you own, and the drives you already use, such as iCloud Drive, Google Drive or Dropbox.

    Later

    • A document on one computer, found from your phone by what it is about.
    • Kept as your files, in your folders, not in ours.
  6. School, work and the accounts you sign into

Student and work portals, the services that hold your standing, deadlines and materials, and the social accounts you choose.

    Later

    • Your standing, deadlines and materials in one place, with the portal named as the source.
    • Nothing is read or stored without you connecting it first.
  7. Tools you already use

Developer tools, if you use them; the ones we build VOV with today.

    In use by us

    • If you use developer tools, they can read and write the same memory.
    • They stay yours and separate; VOV is the connection, not a replacement.

What that makes possible

Today, on our own phones

  1. Say it once. A thought on the way out the door is kept as a note, in your words, on your phone.
  2. Ask, and see where the answer came from. Every answer names the note, file or page it came from, so you can check it.
  3. It goes where you go. The phone carries the context; a computer you own does the heavier work when it is on.

Where this is going

  1. Your deadlines find you. What is due, from your calendar and your school or work account, with the thing you kept about it beside it.
  2. The two messages that matter. Mail sorted by what actually needs you, answered from the same place.
  3. Things done for you, with receipts. A call made, an order placed, a form filled: what happened, when, and by which of your devices. Anything that costs money waits for your yes.

These wait on the connections above. Nothing here is offered yet.

Made for two people

The student who never asked for any of this. Connect your laptop and your school account, and your phone carries your materials and deadlines to the lab. No new habits; it just knows what you kept.

The person who builds things. The same app. Your computers and your tools are more connections, each one another pair of hands, and everything they do leaves a receipt you can read.

How we build it

The principles in full

Where we are

  1. Now Using the first connection ourselves, an iPhone to a computer we own, before anyone outside the company does
  2. Later Undecided: other computers and phones, and who can sign in besides Apple accounts
